This week we will feature the Barefoot BISON and Peggy Schwarz.

Formed as a direct result of the Hostel Café open mic, and formerly known as a band in search of a name, Barefoot B.I.S.O.N. was born after discovering they all eschew singing in shoes. The trio employs acoustic guitars, a djembe and harmonies to perform a mix of original and cover songs, drawing inspiration from (to name a few) the Beatles, Neil Young, Joni Mitchell, John Prine, Tom Waits and Gillian Welch.

Peggie lights up a room with her favorite covers that may just become your favorites too. With her exceptional voice, she sings a bit of everything: folk, standards, country, blues and Americana. After years in the classical music sector, she returned to her six- string roots in 2017 and performed over 40 shows around Portland in 2025. Most importantly, she believes in an openhearted delivery of her songs – and everybody having a good time!
