The Hostel Café, in Portland’s historic Northwest neighborhood, is a casual restaurant and pub serving classic American fare with locally produced coffee, beer, and wine.  Offering healthy breakfast, lunch, and dinner plates, The Hostel Café draws on culinary traditions and ingredients native to Oregon.

Founded in 2017, the Café is a space for world travelers and Portlanders to cross paths and break bread together.  Located in the newest wing of the Northwest Portland International Hostel and Guesthouse, the Café is open to all, seven days a week. The Café team hopes to build connections among all visitors through simple, affordable, good food and drink.

Sitting on the tree-lined corner of NW 18th Avenue and NW Glisan Street, the Café offers nightly specials, vegetarian and vegan plates, sidewalk seating, and plenty of bicycle parking.

The Hostel itself began in 1998 in a renovated historic home on NW Glisan. Over the years, we have expanded from that original building, to four historic structures, all on the same block. Each new building added more character and special features to the hostel, including much needed common areas.

With the addition of our fifth building, designed and built from the ground up, we bring to the community a completely modern approach to the hostel’s mission of providing simple, affordable, comfortable, friendly shelter to travelers from around the world.  With contemporary amenities and the Hostel Café restaurant, all of Portland can visit a place where the wide world gets a whole lot smaller.
