This week we will feature Brent Calderwood and Lila Sartola.

Brent Calderwood performs his lyric-driven songs on guitar and piano, blending Americana with the American Songbook. He has received fellowships from Blue Bear School of Music and Lambda Literary, and he was a 2014 American Library Association honoree for his poetry book, The God of Longing. His essays on poetry and songwriting appear in Rolling Stone and jonimitchell.com

Lila Sartola is a local jazz singer and pianist whose sound is infused with intuitive warmth and expressive phrasing. A Portland native, she spent half of her young years in south Louisiana where she was immersed in jazz, finding a love for jams, improvisation, rhythm, and musical conversation. She is deeply inspired by the authenticity of jazz artists Etta James, Melody Gardot and Lara Louise.
